Yamashiro Hollywood Restaurant – Yamashiro is a mountain palace perched in the Hollywood Hills with one of the best views of LA. Our Asian inspired menu is fresh and amazing! Perhaps the most unique restaurant/venue in Southern California, Yamashiro Hollywood’s unique ambiance of Japanese-inspired tranquility and unparalleled views offer guests a place of serenity high above Los Angeles.
It’s an L.A. landmark with such stories to tell, a restaurant where employees claim there are ghosts, a building that houses priceless Asian artifacts and once served as the social house of the Four Hundred Club, Hollywood’s elite of the elite. The building broke ground in 1911 and began its life as a private home that was created as a replica of a Japanese palace.
During the “Golden Age” of Hollywood, Yamashiro served as the ultra-exclusive hang-out for the “Club of the Four Hundred”: the era’s most famous and influential stars and movie moguls. The structure and its grounds served as a boy’s military school and later apartments before being acquired in 1948 by the Thomas O. Glover, who – with his son, Thomas Y. Glover – discovered the beauty beneath the disrepair and refurbished the space. The restaurant is still owned and operated by Thomas Y. Glover. Over 60 years later, Yamashiro continues to flourish as an Asian-inspired Los Angeles institution.
